Clubhouse Specialist - Nutrition & Wellness Unit (31206)

ABOUT NORTHSTAR: NorthStar Clubhouse is an evidence-based mental health recovery program operating under New Narrative Integrative Mental Health and accredited by Clubhouse International. The Clubhouse Model is a specialized form of community-based psychosocial rehabilitation. Clubhouse programs are organized around what is known as the Work Ordered Day (see Clubhouse International’s description of a Clubhouse Program). The work ordered day is the structured activity that operates the program. The work-ordered day is the therapeutic milieu for members, and is modeled after basic community work sites of all kinds.  

The Clubhouse is organized into units, each of which manages tasks to support the operations and growth of the Clubhouse program. Each Clubhouse Specialist will have a “home unit” and will also facilitate projects and work across units. By participating in the Clubhouse, members build relationships, routines, skills, confidence, and a renewed sense of purpose. 

Clubhouse Specialist Description: Specialists actively organize unit activity and engage members in all aspects of Clubhouse operations to facilitate members’ personal recovery goals.  

Work-Ordered Day Duties 

• Ensure member engagement with all Clubhouse activities, including planning, coordinating, and executing daily work side-by-side with Clubhouse members, including: 

• Ensuring work is visible, accessible, and sufficient to engage all members in all aspects of the Clubhouse operations 

• Support, encourage, redirect, and creatively involve all members in the Clubhouse throughout the day 

• Assume bottom line responsibility for engaging members in the successful completion of all unit work 

• Facilitate and participate in unit meetings, transitional employment meetings, Clubhouse meetings, and philosophy/policy meetings, assuring full member participation 

• Be aware of members not in attendance and ensure effective outreach 

• Assist members with creating and updating a meaningful plan that has measurable goals. Partner with members to achieve their goals 

• Model responsivess to feedback from others: member, coworkers, Director, etc. 

• Engaging members on the daily tasks to promote confidence, connection, skills, satisfaction, stabilization, and their personal goals 

• Fosters a recovery environment in which members feel wanted, needed, and expected. 

• Participate with members and staff in a collaborative decision-making process  

• Encourage members to take leadership roles 

• Supports the rehabilitation/recovery of an assigned group of members, where the Specialist holds primary responsibility for collaboratively assisting members in developing personal recovery goals, supporting the achievement of these goals, and tracking their progress, addressing barriers that may impact attendance and/or participation, and ensuring proactive engagement when needed 

• Model constructive conflict resolution techniques by normalizing conflict as a natural part of any workplace, using de-escalation strategies, encouraging perspective-taking, and guiding individuals toward collaborative solutions that retain their connection to the clubhouse 

• Performs placement management duties for the Transitional Employment Program. These duties include training members, absence coverage and maintaining relationships with community business partners 

• Rotates with other staff to cover social programs, including weekend, holiday, and after hour events 

• Linking members to community services and supports as needed to achieve personal recovery goals and social determinants of health needs 

• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation as required by funding sources 

• Adhere to all New Narrative and NorthStar policies, procedures, and processes.
