If you are motivated by these principles, we encourage you to join our team! HTH seeks a School-based Mental Health Therapist/Clinician, to provide support to students, teachers, and, families, under the direction of the Director of Special Education. This position will support multiple school sites across the County. JOB SUMMARY The School-based Mental Health Therapist/Clinician provides and supervises individual, group, and family counseling to assist students in overcoming behavioral/emotional challenges and guide students in the development of skills and strategies to achieve educational goals. Duties include: ●      Provide weekly group and individual clinical supervision to interns/associates working toward licensure●      Act as student advocates in order to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations ●      Develop, implement and supervise treatment plans based on clinical experience and knowledge ●      Collaborate with other staff members to perform ERMHS assessments and develop service or placement recommendations ●      Attend IEP and 504 meetings and contribute to the goals and planning for the students ●      Refer students or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary ●      Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and student’s progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives ●      Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed in order to comply with changes in students’ status ●      Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy ●      Serve as a liaison to regional and community resources that provide services to students and parents in medical, psychiatric, therapeutic, and other needs●      Plan, prepare, and conduct in-service education for other school professionals on various topics applying to students with behavioral/mental health needs●      Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports ●      Maintain confidentiality of records related to students’ treatment ●      Communicate and collaborate with other staff and family members as a means of effectively supporting students and strategies at home and school as to optimize the overall program and progress of the student ●      Perform other duties as assigned  The ideal candidate would possess the following competencies: ●      Principles of mental health supervision, consultation, education, and prevention within the school and community  ●      Special Education policies, laws, and procedures ●      School policies, methods and practices generally used with students in a therapy setting  ●      Biological, behavioral, and environmental aspect of emotional disturbances, mental health disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and substance abuse  ●      California State Education Code as it applies to the specific duties of this position●      Report writing methods and techniques  ●      Communication skills with parents and staff concerning student needs
