Summary

We’re hiring a Staff Software Infrastructure Engineer to join our Cloud Data Store team, where we’re reimagining cloud storage and building a customized persistence layer tailored specifically for Temporal. We’re solving hard distributed systems problems related to databases and the way storage works for the cloud. The charter of the CDS (Cloud Data Store) team is to increase the reliability, and scalability and reduce COGS of running Cloud Temporal. See what the CDS team has been working on recently.

What You'll Do

Invent

• Build systems that optimize cloud use and scale for expansion.
• Contribute to Cloud Data Store system architecture and execution.
• Continue to maintain and foster a culture of engineering and operational excellence.

Own

• Develop effective partnerships across Cloud Data Store teams.
• Perform design reviews for multiple projects with a focus on infrastructure scalability and reliability.
• Engage with stakeholders and customers to help understand their requirements and enable their business.

Learn

• Investigate and understand the ways to best leverage Temporal’s own software to power infrastructure at scale.
• Get educated as to Temporal's customer needs that drive infrastructure design decisions.

Collaborate

• Share design principles for building reliable systems at scale.
• Learn and help others get better while you grow.

What You'll Bring

• Experience contributing to complex cross-team engineering efforts focused on cloud, compute, networking and storage infrastructure.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• You are comfortable driving alignment across an organization and contributing to long-term roadmaps.
• Demonstrated ability to make system-level tradeoffs.
• At least 7 years coding experience (Go, Python, Java, or other applicable language) and experience writing concurrent code.
• Experience designing and running highly available and fault-tolerant systems.
• Hands-on experience with networking, security controls, compute, block storage, and object storage services provided by AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience working with infrastructure as code tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, or Cloud Formation.
• Kubernetes management experience is essential and operator development experience is a plus.
• Experience working with databases.

Compensation

• The estimated pay range for this role is $170,000 - $250,000.
• Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Temporal's equity plan.

Compensation ranges reflect salary and commission compensation (when applicable) across several geographic markets.
