Job Summary

Supports the day-to-day operations of the accounting area by preparing and reviewing journal entries, maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger accounts, creating standard accounting reports and supporting management. Is a key player in the month-end close process and annual financial statement audits. Researches and interprets accounting policies and regulations and maintains and identifies potential improvements to internal controls.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Reconciles and maintains the general ledger accounts.
  • Prepares, processes and reviews journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Compiles balance sheet, profit and loss statement, statement of cash flows and other reports monthly, quarterly, and annually for BSE management.
  • Assists with the accurate and timely completion of the month-end close process.
  • Assists branch/regional/department/executive managers with questions regarding financial statements and reporting.
  • Coordinates the initiation of wire transfers.
  • Reviews and analyzes margins, payroll, rebates, accruals and true-ups.
  • Coordinates the financial statement consolidation and conversion to SAP for newly acquired companies.
  • Researches and interprets accounting policies and regulations and advises management to ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Maintains and identifies potential improvements to BSE’s internal controls.

Non-essential Functions

  • Assists with financial audits.
  • Assists Financial, Planning & Analysis team with compiling information for the annual budget.
  • Collaborates with Process Improvement Accountant with identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Leads or assists with special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a four-year accounting, finance or business administration degree with three to six years of progressive accounting or related experience.   
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar designation is preferred. 
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.  
  • Prefer strong working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint), Internet, Email and SAP software.

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, reading, and customer service skills are preferred with the ability to effectively plan and organize.  
  • Excellent customer service skills include being competent, accurate, responsive and engaged.
