About the role
The Wealth Strategies Paralegal will work with our attorneys specializing in private client services, estate planning, and estate and trust administration. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to preparing and maintaining legal documents, coordinating with clients to provide timely updates and administering multiple estates and trusts with deadline-sensitive case management requirements. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of paralegal experience working on estate and trust administration matters.
Where You'll Work
The Wealth Strategies Paralegal is an hourly non-exempt position and will work full-time at our Tampa, Florida office.
What You'll Do
- Manage all aspects of estate and trust administrations including funding and administering subtrusts created under the decedent’s estate plan.
- Prepare estate accountings for courts and trust accountings.
- Prepare and file probate pleadings, notices and tax-related documents.
- Prepare trust administration documents, including required notices under the Florida Trust Code and related waivers for beneficiaries.
- Prepare asset spreadsheets in excel based on federal estate tax return (Form 706) schedules.
- Assist attorney with preparing and filing Form 706.
- Communicate with clients, beneficiaries and financial institutions to provide timely updates and provide documentation as needed.
- Conduct legal research on estate and trust administration topics.
- Draft legal documents such as wills, trusts and advanced directives using Lawgic estate planning software.
- Attend all client signings with attorneys.
- Assist attorneys in organizing and managing case files; including maintaining document databases and electronic records.
- Minimum of an associate’s degree is required; Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved program preferred.
- At least two years of paralegal experience working on estate and trust administration matters. Estate planning experience is a bonus.
- Experience working with Florida trusts and estates matters preferred.
- Project and case management skills including a strong aptitude for managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Sits frequently, six out of eight hours per day. Sitting position static for up to one-half hour at a time.
- Bends and stoops occasionally, up to one-half hour per day.
