WORKING TITLE: SECURITY OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Bureau of Security Operations.
The mission of the Bureau of Security Operations in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the safety and security of correctional institutions, staff, inmates, and the public.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Oversee and coordinate the inmate drug testing program, including creating testing schedules and monitoring certifications.
- Review and update security procedures, forms, and post orders annually.
- Manage and maintain inventory of officer and executive-level badges, lapel pins, and medals.
- Respond to public records requests and ensure compliance with Florida laws and policies.
- Coordinate training for staff on security-related topics and assist with curriculum development.
- Address security issues reported by correctional administrators and provided solutions.
- Assist in developing security standards, conducting surveys, and compiling reports.
- Provide support during institutional security issues, emergencies or Agency declared events and in the Emergency Operations Center.
- Monitor contracts and complete Florida Certified Contract Manager (FCCM) certification if required.
- Assist leadership with special projects and assignments., policy review and development, ACA, and public records requests.
- The incumbent in this position is expected to perform other duties as Perform related tasks as required to support Bureau operations and agency mission.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of full-time employment in a correctional environment (federal, state, or county) in a security, administrative, or institutional operations role.
- Must be able to respond to institutional security issues, emergencies, or agency declared events and provide support to an Emergency Operations Center when required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience applying or working with correctional policies, administrative rules, or security procedures such as those found in state administrative codes (e.g., Chapter 33, F.A.C.)
