Job Summary

The Group Internal Audit function has a high-profile role, based in Charlotte, NC, leading the North America region of the audit team. The position requires extensive internal audit experience and strong communication and interpersonal skills. The role reports to the Group Director of Audit and Risk based in the UK Group Head Office. The role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced and ambitious person to develop their skills and knowledge and pursue a career within Internal Audit as part of a global Audit team.

Responsibilities 
•    Leadership of the global Internal Audit team for the North America region (US and Canada).
•    Lead a small audit team conducting audits of the North American business.
•    Implement internal audit policies, systems and processes.
•    Contribute to and help deliver the Group Internal Audit strategy, maintaining an audit universe and develop risk-based internal audit plans.
•    Cultivate strong working relationships with the local management team and stakeholders.
•    Support the risk assessment process.
•    Identify and drive continuous improvement to the internal audit methodology.
•    Provide thought leadership in the areas of risk and controls.
 
 

Skills and capabilities:
•    Self-starter with the ability to lead and to work independently and engage with teams at all levels in the organization.
•    Ability to establish and sustain trust and confidence with stakeholders.
•    Self-motivated, innovative and a high degree of personal drive.
•    Strong analytical skills, with a strong risk awareness and understanding of processes and controls.
•    Commercially proficient and ambitious.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as is the ability to function effectively in teams.
•    Overnight travel 15-20%
 


Education and experience:
•    10+ years of experience in Big 4, Management Consulting, Multinational Corporate Environment, Internal Audit, Audit, IT and/or related field.
•    CPA (required), CIA and/or other certifications (preferred)
•    Experience in a large, global consumer-focused business is advantageous. Fortune 500 experience preferred.
•    Excellent PC Skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio, electronic audit work papers, etc.)
•    Recent (past 5 years) US SOX experience strongly preferred.
•    Familiarity with the UK Corporate Governance Code preferred.
