Are you a Farming Nerd?
We are seeking a skilled and motivated AutoTractor Field Robot Engineer who will be responsible for debugging, diagnosing, and resolving in-field issues with our Carbon Robotics Autonomous Tractor. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with our Field Robot Engineer team to execute bi-weekly and monthly preventive maintenance tasks on our current LaserWeeder fleet. This position requires a strong blend of tractor knowledge paired with electrical, hardware and wiring basic skills, such as:
Troubleshooting and Diagnosis
- Debug and diagnose software and hardware issues with the autonomous tractor in real-world farming environments.
- Analyze error logs, sensor data, and system performance to identify root causes of operational issues.
Software Support
- Collaborate with the software engineering team to implement updates, patches, and configurations to optimize system performance.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and programming skills to test and validate software solutions.
- Assist in calibrating and integrating software for sensors, actuators, and autonomous navigation systems.
Electrical Support
- Inspect, test, and repair electrical components, wiring, and circuit boards within the Autonomous Tractor Kit.
- Ensure the proper functionality of sensors, motors, and other hardware.
- Perform system-level diagnostics on power distribution and connectivity issues.
Field Support
- Provide on-site technical support to farmers and operators to ensure the AutoTractor Kit operates efficiently.
- Train operators and farm personnel on the proper use and maintenance of the system.
- Respond promptly to service calls and provide high-quality customer support.
Preventive Maintenance
- Work closely with the Field Robot Engineer team to execute bi-weekly and monthly PM tasks on the current LaserWeeder fleet.
- Ensure all LaserWeeder units are operating at peak performance through scheduled inspections, calibrations, and updates.
- Document completed maintenance tasks and report any recurring or potential issues to the Field Robot Engineers and engineering teams.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of all diagnostics, repairs, and system updates.
- Provide feedback to the development team on recurring issues and potential areas for system improvement.
- Document best practices and troubleshooting guides for future use.
Qualifications:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, particularly in customer-facing scenarios to maintain the Carbon Robotics reputation of being highly customer driven with resources to execute tasks at a high level.
- Maintains positive working relations with all support stakeholders.
