About this role:

Gartner analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research and provide advice to world-leading organizations. A Senior Director Analyst possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems, and solutions within the market they serve, and help clients make better decisions relative to their highest business priorities. He/she will provide research and advisory services to our clients across the globe. 

This role in the Strategic Portfolio Management team creates thought leading research for our clients in Gartner for IT Leaders & Technical Professionals through published research content, conversations with clients (Inquiry), client briefings and meetings, conference presentations and webinars. You are primarily responsible for leading and advising Gartner clients by researching topics and best practices related to Strategic Portfolio Management. This includes the areas of program and portfolio strategy, management practices and technologies; PMOs and EPMOs; adaptive program management; governance, prioritization and risk; enterprise portfolio leadership; resource and capacity planning; enterprise agility and innovation; and managing organizational change. 

What you’ll need:

Most Gartner analysts have many years of experience in leadership roles and enjoy solving puzzles. It is important to have subject matter expertise in program and portfolio management practices and tools, as well as an interest in developing expertise in new topics.

  • 12+ years of relevant field or industry experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Graduate degree preferred.
  • Experience leading an Enterprise Portfolio Office (EPMO), Portfolio Management Office (PMO) or Strategy Execution Office is a plus.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide strategic transformation initiatives, involving technology, process or organizational change.
  • Experience in delivering value through portfolios, programs & projects including working with senior business stakeholders to deliver initiatives.
  • Expertise and leadership in such areas as:  tools for IT portfolio management, program resource capacity planning, portfolio and program financial management practices and supporting enterprise transformation initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability and experience reviewing, analyzing and synthesizing data and information to form new insights, identify emerging trends and deliver valuable recommendations to clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-motivated manner within a highly collaborative, remote team environment.
