We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Aviation Systems Engineer Co-op to support our engineering team during the spring and summer terms. This role offers hands-on experience in the design, integration, testing, and evaluation of fire protection and overheat detection aircraft systems, with exposure to real-world engineering projects that directly impact aviation safety, performance, and innovation.

What You Will Do:
    •    Assist with the design, analysis, and integration of aircraft systems (fire protection and overheat detection)
    •    Support system modeling, simulation, and trade studies to evaluate performance and reliability.
    •    Participate in laboratory and flight test preparation, execution, and data analysis.
    •    Contribute to requirements definition, verification, and validation activities.
    •    Work with cross-functional teams (software, mechanical, electrical, and safety engineers) to ensure proper system integration.
    •    Assist in troubleshooting system issues and providing engineering solutions.
    •    Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for engineering reviews.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer:

    •    Strong academic background in systems engineering principles, aircraft systems, or avionics.
    •    Familiarity with tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or CAD software preferred.
    •    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    •    Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.
    •    Passion for aviation and interest in hands-on engineering projects.
