You provide friendly, attentive, and timely service, as you assist the Retail Manager with training and supervision of team members, retail buying, merchandising, asset protection, expense control and reporting. As a leader within our retail team, you live to share your passion for genuine hospitality in your commitment to enriching lives.

You lead by example as you coach and train team members in strategic floor activities such as optimizing merchandise presentation, product education as you maintain an operational focus on maximizing sales. You share your product knowledge of current product trends and ensure available inventory, as well as leading the scheduled inventory process. You thoughtfully participate in staff development, entering selection and training of new team members, scheduling, and participating in staff performance rewards and evaluations.  You will train, develop, and celebrate the successes of the team.  You schedule and lead weekly standup meetings.  Through a hands-on approach, you will provide product knowledge to team members and guide, coach, develop and inspire team members to achieve their best in a Forbes five star environment.  You understand and teach your team a variety of tasks, like selling and redemption of gift cards and how to efficiently operate the Micros POS.

You coordinate with office staff to schedule merchandise transfers and schedule inventories for shops.  You communicate with buyers about product and inventory levels and perform weekly spot check schedules to help maintain inventory levels.  You provide feedback to the visual merchandiser about execution of displays and product placement.  You ensure weekly feedback is communicated from the shops to the retail office team.  You ensure procedures and processes are in place and implemented, such as keeping the storage and stockrooms kept clean and organized, maintaining adequate par levels on identified in-stock merchandise and monitoring accuracy when checking in products.

You maintain situational awareness of your surroundings, keeping an eye on all areas for tidiness and any general maintenance issues, ensuring that all are corrected or reported immediately. You maintain your knowledge of Sea Island’s properties, services, and offerings, and share this information with guests, members, and team members. You are generous with your support and help resolve any service issues that arise in a timely and positive way, following up as needed. You are proactive in aiding when needed and are willing to help with other areas or duties as requested.  

Job Requirements:

  • Three or more years’ experience working in a similar retail environment
  • Understanding of business forecasting, payroll and scheduling and their relationship to profitability
  • Proficient with ProfIt and Loss analysis, labor control and the budgeting process.
  • Experience in physical inventories and inventory systems.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Physical strength and stamina to perform a retail leadership role, maintain ongoing, prolonged physical activity throughout a scheduled day to include lifting 30 plus pounds, working in a retail/resort environment, comfort with noise levels, electrical, chemical and fume hazards with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, squat, climb, stand, sit, balance, reach, stretch, bend, push, pull and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Flexible scheduling as we work at peak business hours, which includes weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays.
