Software Engineer, JoinedUp - IRELAND Location

Purpose of Position

JoinedUp empowers customers with high-volume shift planning solutions, serving all kinds of sectors, from logistics to education. As a member of the Fulfilment team, you will be at the heart of our application, across core areas of functionality such as shift allocation and worker profiles. 

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a fully empowered feature team to build great features that delight our customers 
• Analyse, design, build, and test highly resilient and scalable services using Java on the server, and ReactJS on the client 
• Contribute to architectural decisions that improve platform scalability and maintainability across teams 
• Create application telemetry for rapid production feedback loops and exhibit a curiosity of both how the application performing, and how it is being used by our users 
• Write automated tests (unit, integration, e2e) for the development of any new features 
• Proactively identify and solve problems: anticipate technical challenges and performance bottlenecks before they escalate 
• Own delivery and quality by taking end-to-end ownership of features and initiatives 

Requirements

• Experience designing and delivering robust, production-grade JVM-based applications, with a focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability 
• Experience in a CI/CD environment 
• Strong familiarity with standard toolchains for version control 
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and their practical application 
• A strong knack for writing efficient and highly performant code 
• An ability to communicate complex information clearly and simply 
• A talent for problem solving and debugging complex issues 
• Solid understanding of application security protocols, OWASP guidelines, and threat modelling 
• Languages: Java, NodeJS, React/TypeScript

We would love you to have…

• Have experience with continuous delivery
• Experience writing or integrating with GraphQL APIs
• Full stack web development exposure with a modern web framework including expertise in front-end technologies such as ReactJS and Typescript
