Software Engineer - New Product Initiatives

Hivemapper is a decentralized global mapping data network built by over 50K contributors. 3D edge detections, high-resolution imagery, GNSS, IMU, etc. are passively sent over WiFi and LTE for processing and analysis (sensor fusion, 3D reconstruction, ML, human-in-the-loop, etc.).
Today, different data API products allow transparent and programmatic access for anyone to consume high-resolution imagery and sensor data, precisely extracted Map Features (speed signs, turn restrictions, etc.). New data products for traffic, construction detection, and more are emerging.
Enterprise tech, mapping, robotaxis, rideshares, and real estate represent just a few of the customers consuming data today.  Our work is fast-paced, collaborative, and data-driven.

New Product Initiatives
We are looking for a talented full-stack engineer to help lead the charge forward for new interactive products. We are looking to develop novel experiences that leverage the freshness, quality, and volume of our data to provide new types of mapping experiences to people worldwide.  We’re also building out new tools for fleets to manage their drivers’ data.
The ideal candidate is self-driven, has experience visualizing data, developing high-performance applications, and is motivated by rapid iteration and product exploration.

Responsibilities

• Work on building out the generation of Hivemapper products
• Rapidly prototype experiences that are data-driven and highly visual
• Partner with our R&D and embedded teams to develop novel interactive experiences leveraging real-time 3D data

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience building beautiful and robust React applications
• Proficiency in Typescript/JavaScript in both backend and frontend contexts
• General product knowhow – be a stakeholder alongside our product team

Nice to Haves

• Experience of React Native, iOS, Android
• Exposure to CarPlay or Android Auto
• Maps and data knowhow
• Familiarity with graphics rendering
