Position Specific Description

Job Summary: 


This position will perform the inspection, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of measurement equipment associated with natural gas pipelines, NGL pipelines, and compressor stations.

 

Position Functions:


•    Perform calibration and inspection of natural gas custody transfer meters and associated measurement equipment.
•    Witness calibration of natural gas custody transfer meters.
•    Generate and submit in a timely manner reports of inspections and testing performed.
•    Use software to perform diagnostics and configuration of measurement devices and transmitters to include gas chromatographs, ultrasonic flow meters, and multi-variable transmitters.
•    View and modify the configurations of flow computers.
•    Perform sampling of natural gas and liquid pipelines.
•    Work with networking personnel to troubleshoot and repair communication equipment.
•    Work with SCADA personnel install, troubleshoot, and verify RTU equipment.
•    Comply with all health, safety and environmental practices.

 

Preferred Qualifications:
•    5 years experience in hydrocarbon measurement preferred or equivalent education/experience with technologies used in hydrocarbon measurement.
•    Knowledge of natural gas measurement technologies associated with ultrasonic, orifice, Coriolis, and turbine meters.
•    Knowledge of “smart” transmitters, functions, and communications.
•    Ability to troubleshoot and repair simple electrical circuits.
•    Familiarity with communication protocols used by field devices.
 

Job Overview

This job is responsible for safely performing duties related to natural gas measurement and regulation for gas transmission related facilities. Employees in this role install, operate, maintain, calibrate, test and repair gas measurement and regulation equipment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists in the solution of problems pertaining to gas measurement and regulation
  • Installs gauge lines and piping to instruments, meters, and other gas measurement equipment
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports
  • Makes minor repairs to equipment used in the performance of assigned duties
  • Keeps equipment in safe and proper working condition in accordance with established corporate and/or governmental policies
  • Performs verification/calibration on differential pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, pressure transmitters, chart recorders, and other measurement related ancillary equipment
  • Maintains meter factor and densitometer trend data
  • Performs and/or coordinates measurement equipment calibrations on all liquid meters
  • Inputs all data on a timely basis to maintain the control chart database
  • Travels to sites as required
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Experience: 4+ years
  • Valid Driver’s License (NON CDL)
