Job Summary

Comcast is building a novel mobile broadband solution that converges the latest in 5G technology with a world class cable network and operation. Our Project Condor team is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer (Eng6) to serve as the RAN Architecture and Design SME. A critical member of the team whose work impacts the user experience of millions of customers, you will set and manage the Xfinity Mobile network, including parameters, software, and hardware. A candidate in the greater Philadelphia area is preferred.

Job Description

Seeking a RAN SME with 10+ years’ experience in hardware and software development, procurement and deployment in a national or large-scale network. The A&D SME will be the lead for the development and deployment of new hardware, software and features for the commercial network. They will be responsible for coordinating between teams, directing Lab and Field testing, analyzing RAN vendor solutions and software, developing trials, Gold Standards and feature guidance and transport and CMTS solutions. The ideal candidate will be a wireless subject matter expert, a strong leader and a great communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Technical management of RAN vendor software & hardware including:
  • Manage software releases and new hardware
  • Validate, test and request new features for production rollout
  • Define, publish and manage Golden Parameter Lists
     
  • Plan & incorporate 3GPP features for long term network improvements
  • Work with Lab and Field testing teams to define test plans of new and enhanced RAN software release features, as well as specific testing to determine root cause of issues observed in production network
  • Manage spectrum portfolio and CBRS related network issues with the SAS
  • Work with SAS vendors for any observed issues and pursue long term improvements to the coordination process
  • Develop solutions to maximize both PAL and GAA CBRS spectrum combinations
  • Develop best practices for specific RAN-related issues observed in the network for customer experience improvement
  • SME to support Performance, Optimization, Transport, Device and Operations teams for the RAN team
  • Forward looking roadmap development to identify key RAN network functions, features and hardware
  • Manage RAN capacity and forecasting to predict growth and capacity offload
  • Develop strategy and provide key inputs for network design and offload modeling

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 10+ years of RF experience and LTE/5G wireless design, optimization and network management
  • 5+ years of experience on 5G RAN, preferably 5G SA
  • 5+ years of vendor management
  • In-depth experience and understanding of SA RAN vendor features, parameters, including SON features, preferably for Samsung
  • Significant experience with defining and managing Golden Parameter Lists
  • In-depth understanding of 3GPP roadmap and new features, signaling and procedures
  • Subject matter expert of 5G call flows, counters, KPI formulas, and link budgets
  • Knowledge of the wireless industry and technologies, frequency spectrum and propagation characteristics
  • Experience with planning and optimization of small cell networks
  • Working knowledge of the CBRS band rules and regulations & SAS interface/functions
  • Understanding of functioning of DOCSIS cable networks and architecture
  • Atoll and GIS tool expertise
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools and MS Teams
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills. Ability to interact with technical and non-technical teams
  • Self-sufficient, organized, and customer focused with a positive attitude
  • Highly motivated and able to efficiently manage simultaneous projects
     

Preference for candidates who also have:

  • Knowledge of Dual SIM Dual Standby
  • Experience with Samsung 5G RAN and USM
  • Experience with CBRS spectrum, SAS provider, and CBRS CPI certified
  • Hands on knowledge of NetScout tools: TrueCall, nBA,
