P.J. BOATWRIGHT, JR. INTERNSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION
Working at the direction of the Hawaii State Golf Association (HSGA) Executive Director and
staff, the intern will be exposed to all areas of operations of the HSGA as the USGA Allied Golf
Association for the Hawaii Region.
The duration of the internship will be for up to 11 months, approximately from Feb 2026 through
Dec 2026 on a part-time basis. Compensation will be approximately $2,000.00/month without
full medical, dental, drug and vision coverage during the internship period. Medical/dental
benefits will be available, but payment must be arranged by individuals.
The HSGA reserves the right to approve or disapprove any prospective intern in its sole
discretion.
The intern will participate in the following programs and duties will include:
♦ Conduct golf championships including USGA Qualifiers
Prepare all tournament scorecards, placards and starting times documents using our online
Tournament Management program
Visit golf course with official-in-charge to set up for tournament(s)
Shadow a Rules Referee for at least two halves of a tournament
Assist on site with registration, hole locations, course marking, scoring and starting groups
Assist with recording final scores and prize distribution
♦ Seminars
Prepare applications and setup entries
Organize and secure seminars
Prepare and plan for seminars from start to finish
♦ Communications and media relations
Take photographs at tournament sites
Assist with articles/press releases of info prior to and after events
Assist with social media posts
♦ USGA Course & Slope Ratings (pending scheduled ratings)
General overview and assist course raters (approximately 1 1/2 days per course) in the field.
♦ General office administration
Compile and organize office records
Assist creation of presentation materials
Respond to inquiries from the public
Assist in management of association's web site
♦ Agronomy
Visit golf course superintendent(s) and write report on findings
Attend USGA Turf Advisory Service visit at a club (if one is held)
♦ Jr Golf Support
Assist existing Jr golf infrastructure in Hawaii
