About the role

News-Press TV, LLC, has an opening for a Technical Director/Master Control Operator in our St. Joseph, MO office.

As the Technical Director/Master Control Operator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation and technical excellence of our multimedia news broadcasts. You will oversee all technical aspects, from on-air signal control to broadcast equipment maintenance, while providing leadership to technical teams to uphold high standards of quality and compliance.

The role of Technical Director makes you responsible for the technical aspects of the news broadcasts – reliable operation of the Carbonite directors board, Xpressions graphics system, camera and audio as well as other applications to ensure high broadcasting standards of quality.

The role of Master Control Operator makes you responsible for monitoring broadcasts during select times of the day, retrieving and editing videos for playback, and adjusting broadcast lists to air correct and consistent programming.

Significant functions include the following (not an exhaustive list):

  • Work with other team members to maintain operational broadcast equipment
  • Oversee the execution of live broadcasts and recordings as needed to ensure error-free broadcasts
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards in news production
  • Monitor and adjust broadcast lists utilizing the Crispin system to ensure on-time programming
  • Coordinate with traffic department to ensure correct commercials and programming is running

We require a high school diploma or equivalent while a degree in broadcasting, media production or a related field is preferred.  A strong understanding of broadcast technologies and newsroom operations is a plus. Skills that will benefit this position include – thriving in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, communicating effectively both in writing and verbally, solving problems, quick decision-making, creative thinking and adaptability.
