About the role

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide hands-on leadership at the facility-level to implement the Quality Management System (QMS) and drive continuous improvement through reduction in internal and supplier nonconformances.  This position is a ‘working’ manager position.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining Quality procedures and processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend Quality improvements by coordinating the Nonconformance and Corrective Action Program.  Including driving the resolution of customer reported nonconformances.
  • Drive down the cost of poor quality (scrap, rework, warranty) using root-cause analysis and corrective actions on trends observed through data analysis.
  • Maintain facility quality certifications (including API Q1, ISO 9001, ASME etc.) and conduct internal audits. 
  • Conduct activities in line with the PFT Quality Manual, including performing analysis of Quality data and preparing monthly QMS reports, management reviews etc. and communicating the results.
  • Identify and resolve Quality issues with suppliers and internal customers arising throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Provide continual evaluation of the facility’s processes and methods, to ensure the most effective use of resources and equipment.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of employee job execution (quality inspectors and other personnel), to include training, performance evaluation and employee relations.
  • Continually monitor and control inspection operations to ensure compliance with applicable quality control documents.
  • Ensure test functions are performed in a manner consistent with applicable requirements and quality procedures. 
  • Assure accurate Quality records are maintained.
  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with department managers and supervisors to provide for and ensure that employees receive QMS indoctrination and training.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in facility safety and quality.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Comply with all NOV company and HSE policies and procedures.

FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Quality Management System and maintain compliance with applicable industry standards.
  • Perform Certified Welding Inspection tasks to support PFT welding engineering, including qualifying WPS’s and PQR’s per ASME, API, and NACE standards.
  • Initiate customer communication regarding welding procedures.
  • Maintain and enforce all quality related processes in all departments, i.e. commercial, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain.
  • Prepare Inspection Reports and maintain files of inspection documents.
  • Coordinate and assist in preparing Data Books on completed assemblies.
  • Maintain approved supplier program with ongoing performance assessment and audits of new and existing suppliers. Add in inspection criteria for new parts as they are created.
  • Maintain inspection and measuring equipment; perform or arrange for calibration of equipment; and maintain equipment calibration records.
  • Implements traceability requirements for MTR’s and other requirements per customer specific requirements.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
  • 3 years of experience working in or supervising in an ISO 9001 or API Q1 QMS.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment preferable.
  • Knowledge of API 6A desirable.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing activities including machining, welding, quality control, and assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings; GD&T
  • Knowledge of inspection and sampling techniques.
  • Knowledge of materials and welding (desirable).
  • Knowledge of machining, manufacturing, and welding techniques (forging, casting etc.) desirable.
  • Knowledge of ERP and industry standard quality database systems desirable.
