Principal Project Engineer

 

The Global Instrumentation & Control (GIC) AP300 Instrumentation & Control program is looking for multiple Project Engineers to support AP300 design and delivery.

 

The project engineers will report to the Global Operations Services (GOS) GIC resource managers who have resources assigned to the AP300 program.  The role will support the resource managers as well as Energy Systems Project Managers and be assigned to manage one or several technical areas. This is a unique position in that the Project Engineer will effectively act in simultaneous Project Management, Issue Manager and Technical Leadership roles.  The target applicant is high-performing, highly-driven, self-starting, solution-oriented and looking to develop skills beyond traditional engineering.

 

Specific responsibilities will be as follows:

• Drive functional area completion of required scope to support plant
• Responsible for the managing and driving the schedule and cost
• Drive an accurate demand signal to the functional areas & work with Resource Managers to resource load the schedule
• Understand risks/challenges within the functional areas and drive solution-oriented thinking
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and develop recovery plans
• Lead point of contact for Functional Area Leads and Energy Systems Project Manager
• Responsible for discipline representation in the Product Development Review Meeting (PDRM)
• Supports the Resource Managers, Project Manager and Technical Lead as required

 

What we need to see from you:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• 7 + years of experience
• Previous experience on AP1000 or AP300 preferred
• Ability to travel internationally as projects require (up to 10% for peak times)
• Cognizance in at least one of the following technical areas:
  • Integrated systems Engineering
  • Control Systems and Setpoints
  • Human Factors Engineering
  • Full Scope Simulators
  • Plant Control Systems including Data and Display Systems<
