JOB SUMMARY
Works under supervision of Pharmacy Technician Coordinator, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor or Pharmacy Manager. Accurately prepares all sterile admixtures for adults using proper aseptic technique. Safely handles all hazardous medications, including chemotherapy. Delivers medications in a timely manner. Compounding, packaging and labeling of sterile products in accordance to USP regulations; Able to perform pharmaceutical calculations in execution of tasks. Competent in terminal cleaning and utilizing PAPR unit while cleaning Special preparations (e.g. CADD delivery device, elastomeric pumps). Proficient with understanding sterility testing systems, USP compounding standards and state board of pharmacy rules as they relate to sterile and hazardous compounding. Accurately prepares investigational sterile admixtures for adults using proper aseptic technique. Safely handles all hazardous medications, including chemotherapy. Delivers medications in a timely and efficient manner. Weekend rotation in Dallas and travel to regional sites in DFW for coverage as necessary.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
    High School Diploma or equivalent 
     

  • Experience
    2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, and 
    4 years in area of advanced pharmacy technician concentration 
     

  • Licenses and Certifications
    (TSBP) REG PHARMACY TECNICIAN Registration with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) as a Registered Technician or 
    (PHARM INT) PHARMACY INTERN Registration with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) as a Pharmacist intern  
    STERILE COMPOUNDING (IV) CERT Sterile compounding (IV) certification accredited by ACPE required in Sterile & Hazardous Compounding and Investigational Drug Services only 
    (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required
