As a Lead Setup Technician, you will support the flexo press operators in the print production environment. You will be responsible for ensuring plates are mounted, dies are pulled, inks are at press, press parts and anilox are cleaned, and the press operators are receiving help to wash up/set up the presses. You will also be trained to learn press operation and assist in covering for operator breaks and time off. You will train other employees to perform press support roles such as set up technician, wash up tech, and plate mounter. Troubleshooting and technical support on all equipment will be required as necessary.
As the Ink Technician, you will support our flexographic press operators in the print production environment. You will be responsible for the procurement, creation and maintenance of all inks, coating and varnishes. Other responsibilities include maintaining ink dispenser, labeling containers and stocking adequate amounts of related consumables.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Dispense and certify inks required for all jobs in production.
- Follow standard operating procedures, utilizing given tools and software, to ensure ink meets quality standards.
- Stage all inks and maintain ink levels at each press in advance of each job, utilizing the production schedule. Once staged, update PSA to indicate ink is at press.
- Order and maintain inventory levels for all required consumables including specialized inks.
- Maintain ink area in clean working order, including maintenance of GSE Color Match Dispenser as necessary.
- Create and maintain the GCMS library for digital color standards.
- Process ink returns and recertify to standards prior to putting on the shelf.
- Assist production operators in troubleshooting ink related issues on press.
- Coordinate with Pre-Press department regarding new orders or specialized color or applications.
- Train other assigned employees to have all necessary components to set up a flexographic press.
- Ensure the press staging cart is being utilized to stay one job ahead on each press. Items staged on the press staging cart include:
- The job jacket with job ticket.
- Press plates mounted on cylinders.
- Mag dies mounted to the mag cylinders.
- Enough ink to complete entire job
- Ensure other press support members are assisting press operator by installing cylinders, doctor blades, and mag dies onto the press itself. Focus on ways to assist the press operator to set up the press as efficiently as possible.
- During the job run, assist press operator with troubleshooting any issues, to include dies, cleaning and remounting press plates, and refilling UVs and inks as necessary.
- Follow all FSG procedures and work rules.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- HS diploma (GED) required; college coursework preferred.
- 2 years manufacturing or related production experience.
- 2 years similar experience in printing environment preferred.
