Job Description:

The College of Health and Human Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking an Administrative Assistant II to join our team in providing essential support to our academic leadership. In this pivotal role, you’ll coordinate administrative services for two associate deans, serve as the welcoming face and receptionist for the Dean’s Office, and step in as backup support for the college dean.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support for Leadership: Assist and manage schedules, communications, and projects for two associate deans.
  • Student Programs & Scholarships: Play an active role in facilitating our college's graduate and undergraduate scholarships programs, undergraduate research internship program, and foreign travel grants.
  • Events & Coordination: Help organize major college events, including convocation and university graduation, ensuring these impactful moments run smoothly.
  • Committee Support: Oversee committee rosters and schedules to maintain seamless coordination within the college’s governance structure.

• Works under direct to general supervision and may receive guidance on more complex assignments
• Follows established procedures for work assignments, and completes assignments which are semi-routine and may be atypical in nature
• Applies thorough knowledge to respond to inquiries and requests
• Able to resolve most problems and issues and respond to requests without escalation
• Provides guidance to students
• May provide supervision to one to two other staff or lead a small work team
