Principal Software Engineer

Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI. ​​Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings.​

The SQL Backplane team is looking for people who are interested in developing a state-of the-art platform that spans multiple clouds, hosts open source and Microsoft database engines, and enables touch-free deployments to millions of databases in a fast, safe, and reliable way. The platform provides full lifecycle services involving deployment, upgrade, high availability, disaster recovery, supportability, and management end-to-end.

We are looking for a a Princpal Software Engineer who is not afraid of tackling ambiguous challenges. Someone with a sense of ownership and drive for results. This is a position with high visibility across the organization and high impact in increasing release quality and velocity.

Responsibilities

• ​Provide project leadership, technical guidance, quality oversight, and direct code contributions
• Deliver complete features, services, or solutions. This includes design, implementation, testing, deployment, and live-site monitoring
