The Work You Will Do:
This Environmental Manager serves in the Division of Law Enforcement’s Emergency Response Unit (ERU). This position will be responsible for the completion of a range of assignments independently under limited supervision. The work requires applying a scientific understanding to analyze problems of a specialized nature in a wide range of applications. The incumbent plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of emergency response staff located at multiple field offices. This position has been identified as emergency Mission Essential Personnel and may be required, on short notice, to perform duties and travel in support of emergency efforts.

The incumbent responds to hazardous material and petroleum release emergencies that threaten the environment or the public health. This position provides technical and on-site assistance to ensure threats to the environment and human safety are quickly and effectively addressed. In addition, the office works with local public safety officials and emergency response contractors to minimize threats to the environment.

Where You Will Work:
The incumbent must live within 50 miles of one of the following district offices: Orlando (Orange County), Ft. Myers (Lee County), or West Palm Beach (Palm Beach County), Florida. Orlando is home to several theme parks such as Disney World, Universal Studios, Legoland, SeaWorld and Aquatica, and Gatorland. The Atlantic coast is just an hour's drive from Orlando, and the Gulf of Mexico lies 90 miles to the west of the city. Fort Myers is popular for its great beaches that line the Gulf Coast, shopping, and fishing. Attractions include the historic Henry Ford and Thomas Edison estates, as well as nearby Naples and the islands of Captiva and Sanibel. It is the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins. West Palm Beach is Palm Beach County's cultural center. Its active downtown stretches from a scenic pier on the Lake Worth Lagoon to a waterfront Great Lawn. Dozens of local beaches provide easy access to both the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. It is the spring training home of the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros. Several state and national parks are in the immediate vicinity of each location.
