The Clinical Director is responsible for the leadership and development of effective, relevant clinical practice for BACR’s East Bay School-based Mental Health Services Program. This leadership includes ensuring the implementation of best practices informed by the communities that we serve, including culturally appropriate and anti-racist therapy/case management models and practices; and fostering staff development and positive staff culture/climate for a large mental health team whose work spans the developmental range of K – 12 grade and geographical expanse of West Contra Costa County and Berkeley.

As part of the leadership team, the Clinical Director will work to create and coordinate dynamic, effective, and consistent therapeutic services for the staff mental health program.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed Psychologist, Social Worker, or Marriage & Family Therapist
• Experience in a leadership/administrative role providing supervision and guidance to mental health programs
• Demonstrated experience and leadership in providing trauma-informed, culturally humble, and restorative mental health services
• Knowledge and experience providing MediCal/EPSDT-funded mental health services to children and families
• Demonstrated experience in Medi-Cal billing practices and paperwork review
• Experienced with in-home and community-based modalities
• Experience in school-based work in under-severed communities
• Expert understanding of family-centered, capacity-building, strength-based mental health treatment
• Understanding of DSM-5

Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

• Provide leadership and vision to the development of effective, culturally relevant, and trauma-informed service models and practices for School-based Mental Health Program
• Understand and integrate innovative and cutting-edge best and emerging practices in the field of our programming. Aid in designing new programs and support fundraising efforts
• Foster staff development and lead efforts to ensure positive staff culture and climate; assess staff retention and develop structures to support the development of staff to increase tenure and staff satisfaction, incorporating an antiracist approach to hiring and retention
• Responsible for developing and coordinating staff training calendar, including training for new clinicians (e.g. Assessment and Diagnosis)
• Ensure the effective and responsive onboarding process for new staff
• Develop crisis response process and support staff in developing skills and resources to respond to school-site crises
• Provide support to individual and group clinical supervisors, especially adjunct and direct service staff supervisors
• Provide individual clinical supervision. Ensure that therapeutic activities include but are not limited to individual and family therapeutic activities that are congruent with the client’s individual treatment plan. Monitor clinical paperwork.
• As part of the clinical management team, develop and maintain partnership with key institutional partners and funders
• Partner with East Bay Intern Clinical Director on standardized procedures and policies
