UC Health is hiring a Clinical Staff Pharmacist for the Medication Access Services Pharmacy Department at the University of Cincinnati’s Medical Center. We are offering a $20,000 sign-on Bonus
This role is with Medication Access Services in support of the Pharmacy Revenue Cycle. This includes support of direct support personnel who are completing precertification and follow up work through clinical review, appeal letters, and provision of drug information or clinical trial support. It also includes auditing of accounts to recover revenue from drugs billed through the medical benefits. This position will work cross-functionally and interdepartmentally to review and resolve EMR builds, operational processes, and other issues to optimize revenue capture, minimize revenue loss, and ensure drug billing compliance. In the absence of the pharmacy manager, a clinical staff pharmacist may be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of pharmacy leadership.

PATIENT POPULATION - (CLINICAL ONLY):
Engages in population-appropriate communication.

Identifies and responds appropriately to different needs resulting from unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms. Performs treatments, administers medication or operates equipment safely.
Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect.
Prepares and Dispenses Medication Orders
Order Interpretation & Documentation:
Interprets verbal and written medication orders from prescribers.
Transcribes orders accurately into computerized patient medication profiles.
Maintains complete and accurate medication records.
Medication Preparation & Dispensing:
Prepares and dispenses medications safely and accurately, including:
Sterile preparations
Chemotherapy
Parenteral nutrition
Utilizes proper techniques to ensure safety and compliance
Controlled Substances Management:
Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols:
Issues controlled substances to patient care areas as required.
Maintains records in accordance with legal requirements.
Monitors medication therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, drug-laboratory test interactions, allergies, appropriateness of drug and dose, and therapeutic duplications
Assists with pharmacokinetics consult service and drug dosing per organizational protocol
Reviews/interprets culture and susceptibility data for antibiotic appropriateness and recommends changes as needed
Reads, extracts, and interprets information in patient charts accurately
Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions and medication errors accurately and in a timely manner
Sustains the formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurement; utilizing therapeutic interchange protocols, and promoting rational medication therapy selection
