As an Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building the financial backbone of our organization. In this hands-on role, you will oversee core accounting operations, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, and lead efforts to scale our accounting processes as we continue to grow. Compensation Range and Location:
- $80,000 - $110,000/year (compensation based on experience)
- Remote with occasional on-site requirements (Must reside in CO)
Responsibilities of the Accounting Manager:
- Lead Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in strict accordance with GAAP. Ensure that all reporting requirements are met for internal and external stakeholders, including management, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Oversee Financial Closing: Manage continuous, monthly, and year-end closing processes, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses. Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
- Grow a High Performing Accounting Team: Lead and mentor the accounting team, which currently consists of one accounting assistant, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Manage Core Accounting Operations: Oversee accounts payable, contract management, multi-state payroll, and general ledger functions.
- Ensure Compliance and Regulatory Adherence: Proactively ensure compliance with all regulatory and financial reporting requirements including payroll, sales and use tax reporting, and maintaining active business licenses in all jurisdictions.
- Revenue Recognition: Collaborate closely with the Revenue Cycle Management team to ensure appropriate recognition of revenue and accounts receivable in a healthcare setting in accordance with GAAP.
- Prepare Variance Analysis: Identify drivers of financial performance against forecasts and budgets, and identify opportunities to inject comprehensive cost savings into our operating model.
- Budgeting and Financial Forecasting: Maintain comprehensive financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Actively evaluate and improve accounting processes and systems implementing best practices and automation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness. Lead initiatives that drive the organization towards achieving our goals.
- Strengthen Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial data. Continuously assess and enhance processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Drive Audit Compliance: Lead the coordination and execution of annual audits, ensuring that all financial data is accurate, complete, and audit-ready. Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and ensure full compliance with audit standards.
What you will need for Accounting Manager role:
- You have 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- Experience in the healthcare industry, particularly in a pediatric setting.
- You’re adept at driving process improvements and implementing scalable systems and procedures.
- You are detail-oriented, but can also think strategically, helping guide the business with insights derived from our financial results.
- You have strong communication skills and enjoy working cross-functionally with teams beyond finance.
