Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our team in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting the Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a Ground program. 

Job responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.

  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system products to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.

  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

  • Maintaining existing operations procedures up to date also include lessons learned from real-time performance.

  • Develop new procedures as required. Interface with program and customer personnel.

  • The selected candidate should have a strong understanding of software development.

This position will be at one of our sites in Morrisville, North Carolina, Fairfax, Virginia, or Linthicum, Maryland.  Compensation varies depending on location.

This position requires being on-site and does not support remote or hybrid work. 

This requisition may be filled at either level 3 or level 4, depending on the candidate’s experience as laid out in the basic qualifications detailed below as well as the interview assessment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance at the time of application  [US Citizenship required]

  • Must have the ability to obtain and favorably succeed a CI polygraph

  • Must have a completed STEM degree [a degree in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics]

    • Level 3 (Principal)

      • 5 Years of relevant experience with completed Bachelor's (STEM)

      • 3 Years of relevant experience with completed Masters's (STEM)

      • 1 Year of relevant experience with completed PhD (STEM)

    • Level 4 (Sr Principal)

      • 8 Years of relevant experience with completed Bachelor's (STEM)

      • 6 Years of relevant experience with completed Masters's (STEM)

      • 4 Years of relevant experience with completed PhD (STEM)

  • Must have above minimum experience on the below:

    • Experience with software systems design

    • Experience with Model Base Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo tool

    • Experience with JIRA

    • Experience with decomposing element requirements to subsystem

    • Experience with acceptance criteria creation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Favorably adjudicated CI polygraph
