Position Overview

This is an entry level position that will be responsible for assisting in repairs and maintenance for construction equipment and mechanical equipment such as trucks, trailers, batch plants, paving machines, bulldozers, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and other equipment by performing the following duties.

 

Pay ranges from $18 to $22 an hour, based on experience. 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Test drives vehicles to ensure repairs are properly completed.
  • Updates maintenance and repair logs.
  • Assists with inventory maintenance of replacement parts and equipment.
  • Inspects tools and equipment to ensure that they are in working order.
  • Cleans the shop and returns tools to proper locations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Assists senior technicians in the completion of project work.
  • Performs minor repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services.
  • Completes required paperwork, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Assists with service calls for breakdowns.
  • Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Enrolled in automotive or diesel mechanics program preferred.

 

Work Requirements

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Ability to work in a safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be to work in constant exposure to the outside elements, in all weather conditions.
