Responsibilities:
The Club Sports & FOOT (First-Year Orientation Outing Treks) Program Assistant provides operational, administrative, and programmatic support for Club Sports and FOOT initiatives, helping ensure a safe, engaging, and effective student experience for more than 3,000 students involved in club sports across campus and over 100 incoming students in the FOOT program. This position assists with advancing student well-being, health, and wellness by supporting opportunities that promote physical activity, community connection, belonging, and holistic student development. Assists with providing resources for student participants, student leaders, coaches, and campus partners. Assists with the coordination of logistics, supports risk management and program operations, and contributes to creating an environment where students can develop leadership skills while maintaining healthy lifestyles and positive social connections. Under direct supervision and operational oversight, this role provides support in strengthening student engagement, enhancing campus community, and contributes to the overall student experience and success.This position is open to qualified undergraduate students, graduate students, and community members
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists with distributing and managing Club Sports medical kits, supplies, uniforms, and additional equipment. Supports ongoing inventory and restocking needs for teams and EMT staff.
- Conducts weekly or bi-weekly Club Sports storage and equipment inventory checks; assists with overall equipment management.
- Attends home competitions and tournaments, when available, to serve as a program representative, monitor safety and compliance, and upholds sportsmanship aligned with university values.
- Compiles team game schedules into a master document to support program planning and EMT scheduling.
- Coordinates with Club Sports teams and EMTs to confirm appropriate medical staffing for home games and competitions.
- Assists with processing and tracking all Club Sports Risk and Liability Waivers. Verify that every student athlete has a completed waiver before practices or competitions.
- Serves as the first point of contact for FOOT participant questions and needs. Escalates as appropriate.
- Sends acceptance emails, tracks responses, and corresponds with waitlisted students as requested.
- Assists in training Trek Leaders on social programming, group management, and engagement strategies.
- Attends FOOT treks (late August) and activities, including kayaking, indoor rock climbing, and evening social programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma required
- Prior experience in recreation, outdoor programs, athletics, or student leadership preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong organizational and time-management skills preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and outside partners preferred.
- Comfort enforcing compliance expectations and safety procedures preferred.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks preferred.
- Willingness to attend events and activities that may occur on evenings or weekends preferred.
