Medtronic’s Test Development Team in Tempe, Arizona, is looking for a Senior Test Development Engineer to develop firmware and Automated Test Equipment software to support manufacturing electrical test and perform mixed signal analysis for PCB level and device level integrated system level testing. This individual contributor will have responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement testing methods to detect manufacturing defects in custom ultra-low power electronic systems.
- Develop firmware-based solutions in C as needed to meet specific test requirements.
- Develop test methods in Test Stand, LabView, or C++ depending upon which Automated Test Equipment (ATE) is utilized for any given test application.
- Investigate issues with test applications released to production and implement changes as needed.
- Responsible for documenting the test methodologies and executing verification & validation of test applications per the Test Application Standard Operating Procedure.
- Verify and debug custom hardware designed to fulfill electrical test requirements.
- Utilize statistical analysis tools to identify improvements to a test application.
- Collaborate with multiple internal functions to define test requirements, test methods, and improvement opportunities.
Must Have; Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelors degree - Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Minimum 4 years developing firmware and test equipment
- Or minimum 2 years developing firmware and test equipment with a Master's Degree
- Or PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
Nice To Have:
- Medical Device Industry experience
- Device level systems testing
- Mixed signal analysis
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
