As a Safety & Quality Assurance Associate Specialist, you will support the Quality & Safety Site Manager in the areas of Health & Safety and Food Safety & Quality Assurance at our Dallas Production Facility. You will work closely with the site lead, and other operations functions (maintenance, facility management, supply chain management, people operations). You hold the site accountable to meet our internal Quality and Safety expectations. You will report directly to the Site Quality & Safety Manager.
What you will do:
- Ensure all facility operations are in compliance with Marley Spoon’s internal policies and standard operating procedures.
- Lead internal safety walks and audits (Health & Safety and Food Safety)
- Identify potential risk areas in quality and safety, and work with site to complete root cause analysis and put corrective actions in place
- Monitor and report on Quality & Safety KPIs - drive success toward weekly, monthly and quarterly targets.
- Verification of operational practices to ensure compliance at all processes
- Support in the interface with outside regulators governing safety, supporting program management, audits and process improvement
- Input and follow up on corrective actions derived from internal/external audits, product and process non-conformances and incidents.
- Execute daily observations and walkthrough to identity any risks or violations
- Manage the facility sanitation team
- Promote a “safety culture,” which is known and accepted throughout the company
- Assist in developing a Job Safety (or Hazard) Analysis (JSA) for each job to help determine training needs.
Requirements
You are passionate about driving change and improving business operations. You are a confident, self-starter who is capable of recognizing improvement opportunities and developing specific initiatives that result in an impactful, sustainable change across the organization. You are not afraid to own and drive topics
- Great communication and leadership skills
- Strong process documentation and visualization skills, with attention to detail
- Bachelor's Degree Required - in any of the following subjects: Food Science, Environmental Health and Safety, Quality Management.
- 1-2 years of experience in the food industry (incl. ISO 9001, ISO 22000/SQF and OSHA, HACCP)
- Problem solving mindset is essential (familiar with 8D, PDCA, FMEA, Six Sigma)
- Entrepreneurial self-starter with project management qualities
- Critical thinking: ability to read and interpret data and make sound judgement or recommendation for action
- An excellent work ethic and a natural tendency to go above and beyond
- Fluent in English
