PERINATAL DIAGNOSTIC TEST CTR Unit Nurse – Educator
Job Function: 01. Collaborates with Manager, Nursing Coordinator and Unit Based Shared Governance Council in Coordination of Unit Activities: Demonstrates effective decision-making abilities. Analyzes problems and suggests appropriate solutions. Effectively performs role of charge/point person. Demonstrates ability to serve as a role model and provides clinical guidance for the multidisciplinary team. Shares responsibility for smooth functioning of unit. Makes appropriate patient assignments with awareness of status and acuity of, competency levels of nurses working that shift, and unit needs. Makes necessary adjustments in assignments as determined by patient acuity, census, and staff availability. Facilitates and engages in effective problem-solving using available resources. Collaborates with the Nursing Coordinator to review staffing for following 24 hours. Assures the Pyxsis and Narcotic auditing is completed as required. Remains flexible in meeting staffing needs of unit.
Job Function: 02. Resource Person in the Development, Facilitation and Implementation of Shared Governance: Facilitates and collaborates with UB Council in the development of Standards of Care. Promotes the implementation and practice of Standards of Care in conjunction with Unit Based Quality Improvement Council. Collaborates with Manager Nursing Coordinator, and UB Education Council, and educational resource people in meeting unit's educational needs.
Job Function: 03. Assessment and Reassessment: Performs patient assessment that is systemic, comprehensive and accurate. Assesses for needs of the patient and significant other/family and contacts or refers to appropriate resources. Assesses health literacy when identifying the learning needs of patient/family. Reassesses and updates the patients plan of care including the patient/family input.
Job Function: 04. Planning: Develops the plan of care with the patient/family and multidisciplinary team based upon assessment findings (Interventions and outcomes). Initiates the discharge plan with the multidisciplinary team.
Job Function: 05. Implementation: Implements Evidence Based practice guidelines and standards to provide patient care. Delegates responsibility to others appropriately.
Job Function: 06. Evaluation: Evaluates effectiveness of intervention and appropriately communicates with the patient/family and multidisciplinary team.
Job Function: 07. Documentation: Documents patient and family response to therapies and nursing interventions including the achievement of goals. Documents patient/family teaching/learning and discharge information.
Job Function: 08. Safety: Collaborates with the patient/family and multidisciplinary team to optimize patient and family care and patient safety. Maintains a safe patient care environment, including adhering to infection prevention and consistent implementation of hand hygiene. Demonstrates active involvement and support of all patient safety initiatives both in practice and word. Identifies emergency situations and addresses them accordingly by reassigning patients, delegating responsibilities to staff members, and making necessary arrangements & contacts to facilitate patient care and functioning of unit.
Job Function: 09. Professional Accountability and Development: Demonstrates professional practice responsibility through active participation in Shared Governance; fulfills mandatory education obligations. Identifies areas for clinical and professional growth. Attends pertinent educational offerings. Certification in specialty desirable.

PERINATAL DIAGNOSTIC TEST CTR Required Education and/or Experience: Graduate of NLN approved nursing program. BSN preferred. Current NJ license as a Professional Registered Nurse. Proficiency in written and oral communication. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as required. National certification preferred. Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) required. Demonstrates leadership in the following current active: involvement in hospital committees, professional organizations, performance improvement, staff education, preceptor, community education, etc. Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in M/B, L&D, MFM,or l
