SUMMARY
To provide healthcare and promote wellness for Brazos County Health District (BCHD) clients with a focus on mental health. The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) may work in any setting that is within the scope of his or her supervising physician’s practice. The supervising physician’s scope of practice shall be defined for the purpose of this section as those tasks and procedures which the supervising physician is qualified by training or possesses expertise to perform.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
1. The LCSW works under the direction of the Sexual Wellness Clinic, Manager and in collaboration with the primary healthcare team providing behavioral healthcare services inclusive of mental health, substance use, and intellectual disabilities.
2. The LCSW serves as Brazos County Health District(BCHD) Behavioral Health (BH) expert.
3. Provides/conducts a wide variety of behavioral health screenings (including but not limited to SBIRT/depression, Opioid risk Assessment, etc.), assessment, diagnostic, brief interventions, consultative, referral, case management/care coordination and evaluation services.
4. The LCSW provides a variety of BH services within their scope of practice, including but not limited to; screening, assessment, diagnoses, evaluation, crisis intervention, brief intervention/treatment, consultations, care coordination/care management, education, referral, advocacy, and other related outpatient services.
5. Provides crisis intervention services and serves as emergency contact for BH issues.
6. Provides individual, family, group, and other counseling services.
7. In addition, may serve on various committees within and outside of BCHD related to integrated health care issues.
8. Make medical diagnoses and initiate referrals of patients to the appropriate health care facilities, agencies, other resources of the community, or other physicians.
9. Compile data and generate reports as needed.
10. Act as a patient advocate, coordinator, and liaison for BCHD in dealing with the community.
11. Supports the “team” concept of healthcare. Contribute to the timely flow of the BCHD by examining, evaluating and treating its patient population in an efficient, effective and timely fashion.
12. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean clinic.
13. Protect the confidentiality of each patient by maintaining HIPAA Compliance.
14. Maintain professional and technical competence by staying up to date in all the aspects of behavior/mental health by regular continuing education.
15. Inform and consult with the supervising physician (Health Authority) about any problems or discrepancies that might arise.
16. Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion with the patients.
17. Comply strictly with mental standards of care and safety standards & regulations.
18. Complies with policies and procedures delineated in the current “Employee Handbook and Personnel Policies of Brazos County, Texas” and department supplements.
19. Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a non-supervisory position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s in social work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education and current licensure as Licensed Clinical Social Worker with three years of behavioral healthcare experience. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Must possess a working knowledge of the current Diagnostic and Statistical manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Proficiency using EHRs systems and other computer programs.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master’s in social work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education and current licensure as Licensed Clinical Social Worker with three years of behavioral healthcare experience.
KNOWLEDGE OF
Must have thorough knowledge of techniques required for diagnosing, treating and at sometimes prescribing medicines and alternatives for the patient’s recovery and provide counseling and guidance for any physical or mental dysfunctions under the supervision of the physician (Health Authority). This includes symptoms management, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures. Good knowledge in providing personal services such as meeting the quality norms, and evaluation of customer or patient satisfaction. Must possess good English knowledge including grammar and other rules of composition to prescribe medicines to patients and other customers. Should be an active listener, learner, with critical thoughts, reasoning and possess good judgment skills to make decisions using scientific methods and tools to provide solutions to problems.
