Senior Software Engineer

As the Software Engineer, this individual will develop high-quality, secure, and scalable code, perform rigorous testing, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver robust solutions. In this role, the individual will oversee the entire software development lifecycle, from design and architecture to implementation and testing, ensuring performance, reliability, and continuous improvement. Additionally, the Software Engineer will bring deep coding expertise, strong programming knowledge, and proven experience across all stages of software development.

Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops, and maintains complex Java-based applications, often leading projects and mentoring junior developers
• Manages and mentors a team of Software Engineers, Researchers, and other specialists involved in the engineering process
• Assigns tasks, providing guidance, and fostering collaboration
• Builds and implements software architecture and microservices
• Creates high-performance, scalable, and resilient technical solutions
• Coordinates tasks between software development team members while also reporting about project progress to engineering managers and other senior leaders
• Conducts or oversees user research activities, such as user interviews, usability testing, and competitive analysis, to gather insights about requirements
• Designs new software and computer systems
• Helps create schematics or wireframes for software, guide junior engineers in design techniques, and ensure initial schematics match customer preferences
• Oversees the testing process for software and computer systems
• Assigns each team member specific testing parameters, then oversee the tests to ensure accuracy, measure results and determine whether to redesign the software or continue with the project
• Coordinates with other engineers, including other software engineers, hardware engineers and electrical engineers to ensure the software they are designing meets the specifications to function correctly with computer software or other technology
• Responsible for the project's deadline and budget
• Oversees the work, necessary tools or materials, and labor needs to ensure adherence to the budget and deadline
• Oversees software development projects and provide mentorship and direct training to junior engineers
• Helps plan the scope, or size, of development projects and what creative direction to follow
• Identifies when customer needs exceed the initial project scope and initiates a redesign and planning meeting to realign project objectives
• Actively contributes to coding efforts while mentoring and collaborating with junior engineers
• Owns specific sections of the codebase and reviews or refines code contributions as junior engineers complete their assignment
• Corrects any software errors or bugs that the user or client reports
