SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

The role of the Sr Manager, Healthcare Economics & Market Access is to support the development and implementation of strategic Healthcare Economic & Market Access plans for the Cooper Surgical portfolio of products and services. This position requires strong knowledge of healthcare finance and reimbursement systems, and reimbursement application processes in the US and certain OUS markets.  Also required is the ability to work in teams, assist in the management of consultant relationships for optimal results, and to produce and communicate results for the business.  At the direction of the Sr. Director of HEMA the Sr Manager will be responsible for interacting with government agencies, payers, providers, trade associations, physician societies and internal stakeholders (i.e. marketing, medical affairs, and sales) to implement, and maintain economic and reimbursement strategies and activities in support of the Cooper Surgical portfolio.   

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • The primary responsibilities include implementation of coverage, coding, and payment strategies that enhance the position of Cooper Surgical in markets where CSI products are sold. 

 

  • The Sr Manager should have experience working with government agencies and payers using the principles of evidence-based medicine to validate the improvements to patient care and economic value in support of reimbursement approvals. 

 

  • Recommend the appropriate development of evidence to drive optimal payer coverage and payment for key projects, products, and initiatives.

 

  • Assist in the development and implementation of tools and processes to clearly communicate the economic value of technologies and procedures with supportive reimbursement information. 

 

  • Participate in cross-functional teams (clinical/medical, outcomes research, regulatory, marketing, legal) to produce value propositions. 

 

  • Drive optimal payer coverage and payment for key projects, products, and initiatives by maintaining relationships with government agencies and payers. Build and maintain key external stakeholder relationships (policy makers, specialty pharmacy distributors), 

 

  • Market Access support for new product development, and pricing strategies.

 

  • Assist in the support of internal and external customers on questions and impact of product and procedure reimbursement. Customer and field sales support regarding benefit and reimbursement models (pharmacy vs. medical benefits, buy and bill, appeals).

 

 

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of health policy trends and issues related to the Cooper Surgical portfolio, interpret for business impact, and participate in cross-functional projects internally or externally to influence and enhance division and product positioning within changing environment.

Education,required/ preferred:

Bachelor’s degree from a four year accredited college required; advanced degree preferred (MPH, MBA, MS) or equivalent experience in health policy, health economics, healthcare marketing, research or reimbursement

 

Experience:

Self-starter with a minimum of 5 years experience in healthcare policy and reimbursement, outcomes research, technology assessment, or other related fields.

 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability as a strategic thinker with experience implementing programs outside of direct reporting relationships.  Prefer solid understanding of medical / clinical research methods and publication interpretation and ability to use evidence to support value propositions.
