The Outpatient Clinical Care Assistant (OCCA) will utilize medical and administrative skills to provide support to patient and healthcare staff. Ideal candidates need to be comfortable working independently and can support high volume patients/caregivers. Care will be provided to our caregivers and not the patient population. This role will provide in-house drug screening certification within the first 90 days. Onboarding for new caregivers may include drug screening, drawing blood, and mask fit testing.
A caregiver in this position works 7:30am—4:00pm or 8:30am—5:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Utilize medical and administrative skills to support patients and caregivers.
Assist with performing assessments and treatments.
Gather and update information related to health maintenance and specimen collection.
Document patient care.
Identify medication changes and update allergies at each visit.
Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
Administer specific medications under the direction of a physician.
Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and medical supplies.
Assist in pre-visit planning and updating health maintenance tabs.
Complete filing, reception duties, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
Travel to other Cleveland Clinic locations as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an approved Medical Assisting program.
Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
Current demonstrated clinical proficiency
Completion of a clinical externship or extensive clinical experience
Recent blood drawing experience
