Internship Program Overview:

Summary of Role: 

GlobalFoundries has a 2025 Internship Position available at the Essex, VT site for an Instrument and Controls Engineering Intern 

Essential Responsibilities include: 

  • Learn Instrument and Control systems across the site 

  • Develop and implement data structure and layout in our PI Historian system along with metrics and reporting that utilize data for continuous system improvements. 

  • Perform project planning, technical analysis, and evaluation of system options and alternatives. 

  • Perform engineering design activities for assigned systems, including capital upgrade evaluations, planning, and expense projects. 

  • Assist and learn maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of control systems in conjunction with Technicians and Engineers 

  • Work with other Facilities departments, including the FAB manufacturing team, to troubleshoot and solve control-related issues 

 

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education Actively pursuing a Computer Science / Engineering or, Electrical Engineering Degree or related field.  

  • Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)  

  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Prior related internship or co-op experience 

  • Project management skills, i.e. the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.  

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  

  • Strong planning & organizational skills
