Summary
The timing business R&D in the MSS division drives many exciting technologies that define wired and wireless connectivity across the globe. The systems team in the R&D unit is looking for a talented EE Summer Intern - 2024. The systems projects span, new product definition, new chip bring up, validation, creating FPGA IPs for our next generation product reference designs, co-developing solutions for IEEE-1588 , PCIe applications, modelling important chip performance parameters like cross-talk, signal integrity, package thermal conductivity, crystal /resonator parameters to name a few broad topics.
Responsibilities
The systems engineering intern will be involved in a modelling/system design project along with lab debug work and will have the following responsibilities:
- Working on a development flow with EMX, HFSS (for modelling) or design tools (Vivado, Virtuoso, OrCAD) for system design
- Complete any necessary training needed to work on the project like training on a CAD tool or lab training.
- Executing the intern project
- Meet and learn from the mentor on a daily basis
- Collaborate with other team members
- Solving key mixed signal problems either through hand analysis, simulation and/or lab debug on a daily basis
- Setting up and conducting periodic reviews of the project for leadership feedback.

Education & Skills
This internship will be a great opportunity for anyone interested in a rigorous training in the chip development process or focus on a specific engineering topic/skill. Our ideal candidate would be a graduate/under-graduate student focusing on a EE major with strong fundamentals in:
- Linear time invariant systems, Laplace and Fourier Transforms
- Solid understanding of feedback control theory
- Circuit , network analysis and synthesis
- Digital, analog circuit design fundamentals
- Exposure to SPICE, Verilog/VHDL, verification , simulation tools preferred
- Exposure to PCB design tools such as OrCAD preferred
- Working knowledge of programming languages (either C/C++, VB or Python) preferred
- Understanding of circuit systems like RF front end systems , PLLs , ADCs and/or DACs would be a plus

The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
