SCHEDULE/SHIFT:
5-10 hours per week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings - emphasis on Saturday mornings.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Special Events Engagement Director, the Special Events Programming Staff is responsible for leadership and implementation of special events for the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee YMCA Jump Start and Team 13 wellness/training programs.
- Build relationships with volunteers, participants, sponsors and community partners to implement and oversee training programs.
- Create and maintain health initiatives within the training programs to help improve overall community wellness.
- Communicate with participants and volunteers through use of Facebook, Constant Contact, etc.
- Effectively communicate the goals of the YMCA.
- Provide training and coaching for staff and volunteers for special events.
- Integrate the use of technology and social media to enhance the marketing of YMCA Special Events.
- Serve as staff support for the Half Marathon Committee.
- Embrace and effectively integrate Christian mission of the YMCA into special events.
- Evenings and weekends required.
- Assist with planning and execution of YMCA Special Events.
- Self-starter with the ability to communicate effectively with other part time staff and supervisor.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
- Complete required abuse risk management training.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen and Blood Borne Pathogen training required within 60 days of employment.
- Child Abuse Prevention training required before/on first day of work.
- Related work experience in the community health and wellness space or B.A. or B.S. in Community Health or the like.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to relate to top community leaders and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Ability to recruit and train special event volunteers.
