Position Summary: The Director of Operations involves decision making over business development, budgeting, estimating and construction of renewable projects. The Director of Operations has direct interaction with senior executives, project managers and account managers within Pike and within our extensive utility customer base.
Essential Functions:
Under minimal supervision, the Director of Operations will provide:
Management of projects and master service agreements in accordance with Pike Policies and Procedures.
Management of the client, ensuring effective business relationships are in place and trusted by all parties.
All aspects of contract negotiation, change order identification, submittal and approval, administration, and establishing the means to execute the contract to include management of subcontractors and material procurement.
Effective change control and risk management processes.
Thorough estimates and proposals for site specific projects and master service agreements.
Effective contractual meetings (contract kickoff, progress meetings, safety meetings, etc.).
Provide meaningful performance related feedback/input to appropriate operations and field management members.
Contract reporting and status for field operations, management, and to the customer.
Accurate monthly financial reporting with adequate backup for management, internal and external accounting and/or SOX requirements.
Effective financial controls to ensure profitability and expected cash flow on all projects and master service agreements.
Management of accurate invoices to ensure timely issuance and payment.
Management and support of emergency and storm restoration events.
EH&S and Quality programs when applicable.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in construction management or related field.
A minimum 15 years’ experience in construction/project management.
Willing to work over-time or long hours during emergency conditions and/or when requested. Schedules can change frequently and with short notice.
Up to 50% travel required.
Capable of following Company safety rules and policies.
Must have extensive knowledge of construction standard practices, techniques, quality requirements, applicable codes and standards.
Ability to administer coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
Ability to develop and interpret a material list, bid packages, scope documents, schedules, and budgets required in work performance.
Proficient knowledge in all aspects of gas distribution systems.
Knowledge of various types of construction contracts.
Perform employee evaluations.
Interview, hire, and terminate employees
Ability to interface with contractors, designers, vendors, and other parties connected with the various project(s).
Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.
