About the Team

DoorDash is actively seeking a dynamic Senior Engineering Manager, specializing in Machine Learning, to steer the progress of our Operational Excellence Machine Learning Engineering Team. This talented group of Data Scientists and ML Engineers are instrumental in developing ML-centric solutions, aimed at nurturing and enhancing trust and engagement among our diverse user base, including consumers, dashers, and merchants.

The prime mission of our Operational Excellence (OpEx) division is to engender trust and bolster efficiency through pathbreaking innovation and seamless automation. We are in the process of curating a unified and automated experience across our vital customer touchpoints: Fraud Detection, Trust & Safety, Support, and Financial Systems.

About the Role

As the Senior Engineering Manager, you will spearhead a team of world-class ML Engineers and Managers, driving the evolution of our products and technologies to serve our customers more effectively and efficiently. You will hold the reins for establishing the vision and mapping the roadmap to elevate our AI technologies, with a focus on enhancing fraud detection, safeguarding customer integrity, refining user experience, and amplifying engagement. By collaborating directly with product, engineering, and operation executives, you will take charge of critical goals that determine the success of our business.

We’re excited about you because…

• A Master's, or preferably a Ph.D., in Computer Science or a related field.
• A robust industry experience spanning over 10 years.
• A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, guiding teams to success.
• Comprehensive knowledge of machine learning and a strong foundation in ML modeling.
• Significant experience in building user-centric products and working in close coordination with product managers.
• Exceptional communication skills and the aptitude to collaborate with teams across various disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to guide and expand an excellent engineering team in a rapidly evolving business environment.
• Preferably, experience leading the successful and scalable applications of machine learning to Natural Language Processing, Fraud Detection, or Trust & Safety.
