Execution of Research AgendasMasters one or more subareas (e.g., Object Recognition, Text Classification) and gains expertise in a broad area of research (e.g., Machine Learning [ML], Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Statistical Modeling). Understands the corresponding literature, applicable research techniques, and academic context.Identifies and articulates problems in an area of research that directly or indirectly impact business opportunities. Advances a research agenda through one or more research projects, yielding new algorithms, prototypes, theories, tools, methods, analyses, insights, or collections of data in one or more subareas or a broad area of research. Advances a research agenda through research projects, yielding new algorithms, prototypes, theories, tools, methods, analyses, insights, or collections of data in one or more subareas or a broad area of research.Contributes to security, ethics, and privacy policies related to research processes and/or data/information collection by providing updates and suggestions around internal best practices. Applies deep subject matter expert knowledge around several specialized tools/methods to support planning for research projects. Begins to evaluate insights based on their impact and value. ImpactExpands collaborative relationships with relevant product and business groups inside or outside of Microsoft as a domain expert and provides expertise or technology to them. Takes initiative and participates in activities such as incorporating relevant data security considerations and guidelines, technology transfers, benchmarking technology with public domain data, filing patents, authoring white papers, developing or maintaining tools/services for internal Microsoft use, or consulting for product or business groups.Collaborates with other relevant researchers, research groups, or engineering teams to contribute to or advance a research agenda. Contributes to organizing workshops or conference sessions. Publishes papers as lead author for high-quality conferences and journals, with an impact similar to that of a (United States) assistant professor.
Qualifications
Required qualifications
- Doctorate in relevant field OR Master's Degree in relevant field AND 3+ years related research experience OR Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 4+ years related research experience OR equivalent experience.
- Doctorate in relevant field AND 3+ years related research experience OR Master's Degree in relevant field AND 6+ years related research experience OR Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 8+ years related research experience OR equivalent experience.
- Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor.
- Experience participating in a top conference in relevant research domain.
