About the role

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Center Technician IV to join our team and provide advanced on-site support at our data center facilities. As a critical member of the operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining uptime, performing complex installations, troubleshooting hardware and network issues, and ensuring the smooth operation of our data center infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on expertise in data center environments and a deep understanding of server, storage, and network systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Center Operations:

  • Perform advanced installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of servers, storage systems, and networking equipment.

  • Conduct routine hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting, resolving complex issues with minimal supervision.

  • Ensure proper cable management, including fiber optics, copper, and power cabling, following industry best practices.

System and Network Support:

  • Configure and install switches, routers, and other network devices based on engineering specifications.

  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues, hardware failures, and system outages to restore functionality quickly.

  • Support virtualized environments and assist with cloud integration tasks as needed.

Storage System Management:

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot various enterprise storage systems including SAS/SATA SSDs, NVMe drives, and traditional hard disk drives while adhering to strict change management procedures.

  • Perform hot-swaps and replacements of failed storage devices in production environments while maintaining system uptime and data integrity.

  • Monitor storage device health metrics and SMART data to proactively identify potential failures and conduct preventive maintenance.

  • Follow proper ESD protocols when handling sensitive storage components and maintain detailed documentation of all hardware replacements.

  • Configure and manage RAID arrays, storage enclosures, and JBODs in enterprise storage environments.

  • Diagnose and resolve storage-related hardware issues including drive failures, controller problems, and connectivity issues.

  • Coordinate with vendors for RMA processes and warranty replacements of failed storage components.

Infrastructure Management:

  • Perform rack and stack operations, ensuring optimal placement and airflow for equipment.

  • Monitor environmental conditions, including temperature and humidity, and escalate anomalies.

  • Execute patch management and firmware upgrades as part of routine maintenance.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records of data center hardware, tools, and spare parts.

  • Document processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing.

  • Provide detailed incident and performance reports to management and engineering teams.

Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Act as a point of escalation for junior technicians, mentoring and training them as needed.

  • Collaborate with remote engineering teams to execute large-scale deployments and upgrades.

  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical issues.

Qualifications Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in data center operations or related IT infrastructure roles.

  • Strong knowledge of server hardware, storage systems, and networking equipment.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hardware and network issues.

  • Familiarity with tools like cable testers, network analyzers, and monitoring systems.

  • Ability to lift and install equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud setups.

  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and change management processes.

  • Certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Micro
