Senior Mental Health and Wellness Clinician - Emergency Psych

About the role

Under the direction of the executive director and/or designee manager, clinicians will be part of a modified PET (psychiatric emergency) team for both (Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach) campuses.  Provides behavioral health evaluations and coordinates the discharge for psychiatric, and chemical dependency outpatient and inpatient referrals and/or transfers in conjunction with the physician and healthcare team.  Will be registered as designated by the Orange County Health Care Agency, Department of Mental Health to evaluate and place individuals on 5150 holds demonstrating competency through training and bi-annual re-designation. Includes on-call PET coverage. Consistently demonstrates behaviors that model the SJHS core values and the Hospital mission statement.

Required qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, psychology or related field or
  • Ph. D. in Psychology or
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Coursework/Training: LPS Designation (Orange County) at hire or within 90 days of hire date.  
  • California Clinical Social Worker License upon hire or
  • California Professional Counselor License upon hire or
  • California Marriage and Family Therapist License upon hire or
  • California Psychologist License upon hire
  • Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  • Crisis Prevention certification within 90 days of hire
  • 1 year of Experience providing crisis intervention and/or patient intake evaluation services across a continuum of care within an acute care or free-standing facility.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
