ArsenalBio, a privately held, clinical-stage programmable cell therapy company engineering advanced CAR T therapies for solid tumors, is seeking a talented Senior Scientist II to work onsite based in our South San Francisco office.
ArsenalBio’s mission is to develop efficacious and safe cellular therapies for patients with chronic diseases, initially cancer. We are looking for an outstanding Senior Scientist II to conduct and advance next-generation sequencing techniques at ArsenalBio. The perfect candidate will possess extensive knowledge of NGS and its various applications and a successful history of delivering novel NGS protocols to address complex biological challenges. As a strong technical contributor, this role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance ArsenalBio research.

The perfect candidate will possess extensive knowledge of NGS and its various applications and a successful history of delivering novel NGS protocols to address complex biological challenges. As a strong technical contributor, this role will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance ArsenalBio research.
What You Will Do:
- Deploy high-and low-throughput NGS library preparation strategies for bulk, single-cell, and multi-omic applications
- Create NGS libraries from single cells, tissues, and isolated DNA/RNA to further ArsenalBio research and discovery
- Establish novel NGS methods to extract new types of information from research and clinical samples
- Assit in overseeing the operation and maintenance of numerous Illumina instruments
- Participate in the overall management of NGS operations
- Assist in troubleshooting problematic library preps and sequencing issues
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in storing, tracking, and analyzing NGS data
- Evaluate new NGS technologies and platforms (e.g., spatial transcriptomics)
- Identify promising new concepts in scientific publications and lead pilot studies of related experiments
- Participate in cross-functional collaborations with multiple groups to advance broad company goals and objectives and assist in the design of genomics projects
- Contribute NGS expertise, leadership, and technical guidance to cross-disciplinary teams.
- Advance NGS technology utilization and understanding across the company
- Work closely with computational biologists to interpret NGS data
What Will You Bring:
- Ph.D. in Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related discipline with 4+ years relevant experience; or Masters with 9+ years of relevant experience; or Bachelors with 11+ years of relevant experience
- 5+ years of full-time, hands-on NGS experience in an academic or industrial setting
- Deep understanding of NGS library preparation and the principles of sequencing technologies
- Previous work with a variety of NGS sample preparation workflows and analysis
- Experience in high-content screening, single-cell genomics (both 10x Genomics and SPLiT-seq approaches), or functional genomics
- Significant experience in troubleshooting, method development, and optimization of molecular biology-based assays
- Strong background in molecular biology and analytical techniques, including PCR/qPCR, ddPCR, molecular cloning, gene editing, enzymatic assays, and nucleic acid isolation and manipulation
- Experience operating liquid handling robots or other lab automation for high-throughput assays desired
- Experience in computational analysis of next-generation sequencing data
- Managerial experience and/or project management experience
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and knowledge on the job, demonstrate productivity and deliver high-quality results
