As a Director or Senior Director Project Manager at Capital One, you will create strategy and lead a team through high priority projects for the company. You will collaborate with smart and passionate leaders to influence results that have a direct impact on the company’s bottom line. You lead important and exciting projects from day one, working alongside key stakeholders across the company.

Enterprise Data is responsible for helping drive and evolve Capital One’s data journey. Our products support our data producers and consumers as they drive business processes and innovation across all corners of the company. Our Data Operations team in Enterprise Data is reimagining how we enable acceleration of our data journey. 

About the role: 

We are seeking a customer-centric, energetic, and highly-motivated individual who is passionate about technology to join our team. This individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of projects and initiatives that cut across product teams to identify key risks and dependencies, facilitate and engage in strategic problem solving, and provide clear, concise and actionable reporting and communication on the status of each body of work. They should have a bias for action, identifying opportunities for optimization or acceleration within processes and take initiative to quickly implement. 

Candidates for this role will have demonstrated they can manage complex and technically-oriented projects, communicate effectively to executive levels, and connect dots across teams, stakeholders and customers to avoid delays and identify opportunities to accelerate work.  Success in the role requires an innovative mind, a proven track record of delivering highly complex solutions end to end, rigorous organization skills, and a passion for delivering customer value. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Elevate and champion the Enterprise Data program management agenda

  • Lead a small team of highly engaged project management professionals

  • Oversee the performance and progress of multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategy

  • Collaborate with product leaders and business unit leaders to identify long term strategies to improve velocity and increase success through streamlining processes 

  • Identify, assess and manage risks across the portfolio, providing mitigation strategies to accountable owners and performers and escalating to executive leadership, as necessary

  • Communicate to product and business unit teams, ensuring clear communication on goals, progress and challenges

  • Collaborate with other staff teams to provide integrated support and oversight with a unified view of status, accomplishments, priorities and risks

  • Implement and execute well managed governance and change management processes across projects/programs

  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to leaders, acting as a trusted advisor for project/program related decisions

  • Demonstrate outstanding communication and partnership skills with key stakeholders across all levels to manage, inform, and influence outcomes

  • Demonstrate organizational agility to adapt to changing demands and work in a dynamic environment

We want you if you are:

  • An analytical thinker able to use data to drive prioritization across cross functional teams

  • Extremely organized with strong task coordination, and time management skills to drive and deliver results

  • Able to handle ambiguity and able to dive deep without losing sight of the project’s direction and commitment

  • Experienced communicating and influencing senior leaders and partners 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Military experience

  • At least 7 Years of Project Management experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of Technology Management experience

  • Experience or knowledge of data publishing and tools like Snowflake/Databricks

  • At least 10 years of Project Management experience

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills

  • Excellent
