Job Description

The Risk Manager position is an integral role within Invesco’s independent Investment Risk team. The Investment Risk team is responsible for overseeing and understanding the various investment risks undertaken within the firm's Fixed Income business. The Risk Manager will assist in identifying, measuring, monitoring, and mitigating risks that impact Invesco's fixed income managed portfolios. In addition, the Risk Manager will assist in developing risk policy and governance oversight across portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with portfolio management teams to help ensure the alignment of portfolio construction to pre-existing risk frameworks.
  • Perform risk analysis on portfolios and their benchmarks (i.e., market, liquidity, and concentration risk).
  • Evaluate risks under both normal and stressed market conditions (i.e., utilize both proprietary tools and vendor software).
  • Research risk analytics that offer portfolio managers orthogonal insights.
  • Deliver written memos and presentations to committees and fund boards.
  • Present portfolio risk and performance analysis to senior leaders across the firm.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • The requisite skillset(s) for a Risk Manager role spans three areas that do not typically overlap. Candidates who are strong in just one or two of these three areas will still stand out in the recruiting process. Invesco will train and mentor any on-the-job expertise that’s needed.
    • Area #1: Familiarity with Fixed Income trading and/or portfolio management
    • Area #2: Technology skills (e.g., working knowledge of Python, R, SQL, and/or Power BI)
    • Area #3: Quantitative skills (e.g., strong math skills, understanding of statistical techniques)
  • Over five years of relevant experience.
  • Understanding of risk models and methodologies is a plus (e.g., BlackRock Aladdin, MSCI RiskMetrics, MSCI BarraOne, Bloomberg PORT).
  • Intellectual curiosity with a dedication to continuous learning
  • Results-driven mindset (i.e., ownership, accountability, timeliness)
  • High standards of work quality and team collaboration
  • Propensity to problem-solve complex analytical puzzles
  • Ability to navigate discussions with technical/quantitative audiences
  • Ability to translate technical/quantitative concepts to non-technical/non-quantitative audiences

Formal Education:

  • Degree in Economics, Finance, or Investments, including quantitative fields of study
  • Certifications that are a plus: CFA, CIPM, FRM, or PRM
