Position: Clinical Chemistry Lead Technologist/Lead Scientist

Location: Highland Heights, Kentucky

Department: Clinical Chemistry

Shift: This is a 1st shift position (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) with a rotating weekend schedule. The rotation alternates between:

  • Monday–Friday one week

  • Tuesday–Saturday the following week

This is a fully onsite role based at our Global Central Lab in Highland Heights, KY. We welcome applicants from all locations within the US. Performs analysis and evaluates individual and related laboratory data, recognizes patterns or trends that suggest significance of results and determines the level of clinical significance. Integrates analytical results with specific and highly varied clinical trial protocols and evaluates the credibility, appropriateness and accuracy of test results in order to facilitate entry or exclusion of subjects from research programs. Leads the day-to-day operations of the laboratory unit. Organizes daily work activities within the lab to ensure efficient and effective scientific and administrative operations

A Day in the Life:

The Lead Clinical Chemistry Technologist performs and interprets complex and routine clinical chemistry analyses using automated instrumentation and established procedures. The role evaluates data for accuracy, precision, and clinical relevance, integrating results with diverse clinical trial protocols to ensure credible, compliant outcomes.

This position oversees daily operations of the clinical chemistry unit, including Roche Cobas instrument maintenance, quality control review, assay validations, and regulatory compliance. The Lead Technologist organizes workflow, mentors and trains junior staff, and supports continuous improvement to maintain efficient and accurate laboratory operations.

  • Operates, maintains, and repairs clinical laboratory equipment within the scope of training including routine preventative maintenance, calibrations, and safety checks. Ensures that quality control procedures are carried out. Monitors instrument problems and works with the supervisor to resolve. Implements new technology and instruments for unit according to established protocols.

  • Gathers data for quality improvement activities within the unit and participates in comparison studies of precision, accuracy, and linearity for new or existing assays according to established protocols. Oversees and reviews daily area Quality Control and maintaining QC database. Sets up and validates new assays as assigned.

  • Recommends new policies and procedures for the unit and modifies existing or authors new Standard Operating Procedures.
