Girl scout camp is where many campers find their strengths and challenge themselves as they navigate activities on the water, at the campsite, and along the trail. Girl Scouts River Valleys’ camp sessions allow campers to develop a strong sense of self and positive values, build healthy relationships, seek challenges, and have fun while making memories of a lifetime!

Compensation

  • For staff living on-site, pay starts at $800 per week (based on a 6-day work week).
  • Experience and certifications obtained prior to hire may qualify candidates for a higher starting rate.

Job Summary

Are you ready to combine your passion for emotional well-being with the excitement of summer camp? Join our team as the MESH Director, where you'll ensure our campers and staff stay safe, healthy, and ready for adventure! Essential job functions of the MESH Director position include:

  1. Provide support to meet individual needs of campers and camp staff: Ensure all campers and staff, especially members from underserved and historically marginalized communities feel supported and affirmed as they experience camp with us.
  2. Create preventative and reactive responses and education to the campers and staff related to mental, emotional, and social health: 
    1. Lead camp in our morning gathering with a meditation, stretching, and/or breathing exercise.
    2. Respond to mental health crises as they arise.
    3. Evaluate when it appropriate for you to respond and when campers, staff, or camp as a whole needs to seek outside guidance.
    4. Assist the Camp Director in planning bonding opportunities for camp staff throughout the summer.
  3. Deliver staff orientation session on MESH resources
    1. Ensure camp staff knows their role related to the Mental, Emotional, and Social needs of their campers
    2. Ensure camp staff have created a self-care plan for the summer.
  4. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior:
    1. Create an inclusive environment that ensures all campers feel supported and affirmed as they experience camp with us.
    2. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures.
    3. Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship.
  5. Model the values of the Girl Scout Mission, Promise, Law and Program Goals at all times.
